Where we ship, and why the state check exists

Kratom is regulated state by state in the United States, and in some states county by county. That is why every product page carries a state check, and why checkout has the final word on an address. This is how the two fit together.

One product, fifty sets of rules

There is no single federal rule that permits or prohibits the sale of kratom to adults. A number of states prohibit it outright. Others allow it under a consumer protection act that sets an age of sale, labeling requirements and testing requirements. A few require the seller to hold a registration or a license before shipping into the state. On top of that, some cities and counties have passed their own restrictions inside states that otherwise allow the sale.

The picture changes several times a year. A list printed in an article would be out of date before long, which is why we do not print one here.

What the state check does

On every product page there is a box titled Can you ship to my state. Pick your state and it answers at once, from the same list checkout uses. If the answer is no, the product cannot be sent to that state and there is no point adding it to the cart. If the answer is yes, the state as a whole allows the sale, and the address is checked again at checkout.

Why checkout has the last word

A state check cannot see a county line or a city limit. Checkout can see the full address. If an address falls inside a local restriction we know about, the order is cancelled and refunded in full, and we write to say why. That is a rare case, but it is the honest way to handle it.

Age

We sell to adults 21 and over everywhere we ship, regardless of a state's own minimum. The age gate on the site asks once, and the answer is kept for the visit.
